My Halloween Party/Wedding...
A great creative Halloween party with a twist!
When my husband and I decided to get married, I wanted a celebration that would be memorable. We didn’t have a lot of money to spend, but that didn’t stop me from creating a party that no one would forget.
We decided that we would have a Halloween party and surprise everyone by getting married!
I made the party invitations by printing simple cards on the computer and embellishing them. I used stretchy fake cobwebs, small plastic black spiders, and rubber cement. You can find out more about these invitations here. (coming soon)
I wanted to be different than every other wedding event. Instead of using birdseed, bubbles, or rice to toss after the ceremony, we used seed pods off of a maple tree (helicopters). That is what I wanted for my wedding, hundreds of them twirling in the air after we said, “I do.”
I made my wedding cakes myself. Given that it was the fall season, and a Halloween party, I made cakes that looked like pumpkins. I baked pumpkin spice cake in two bundt pans, trimmed off the tops, and put them together flat end to flat end to form a pumpkin. I made three of them and put them on cake plates that were small, medium, and large size. You will find the instructions on the "Creative Party Foods" tab under "Fall Pary Foods."
I also made the cake plates myself. I bought three different size vases with wide mouths. I also purchased some large clear plates. I simply placed the plates on top of the vases. I even put some colorful artificial leaves and small pumpkins inside the vases to add a little something to the festivities, but you could put anything in them. After that, I just placed some small pumpkins and colorful leaves all around the cakes. This cake had people talking at the party! Everyone seemed to love the idea! Find the instructions under the "General Party Ideas" tab.
We used hay bales for seating. We rented them from a local Amish family and took them back after the party.
To say the least, we had a very unusual Halloween party/wedding and a creative reception afterward. We have never regretted having it that way, and people still talk about how great it was. Many of our guests loved that it was unusual and laid-back. Numerous people now introduce us to their friends by saying, “This is the couple that had the Halloween party and surprised everyone by getting married.”
It is my goal to help you make your events just as memorable!
